The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed interest in leveraging Egypt’s expertise in power generation and transmission, recognizing the North African nation as a model in the sector.
This intention was highlighted during a recent meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammed Fouad.
Adelabu praised Egypt’s achievements in energy transformation, stating, “Egypt has made remarkable progress in the power sector, and we are eager to collaborate and learn from your expertise. Our priority is to provide Nigerians with reliable, stable, and affordable electricity.”
He further emphasized Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to expand rural electrification through renewable energy initiatives, ensuring that even remote areas have access to power.
In response, Ambassador Fouad reaffirmed Egypt’s willingness to partner with Nigeria, particularly in addressing the country’s metering gap and sharing best practices in energy accessibility.
“Nigeria and Egypt share common goals in energy development, and there is great potential for collaboration. We are committed to strengthening our bilateral ties to achieve sustainable energy solutions for both nations,” Fouad stated.
Meanwhile, at the March 2025 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting in Abuja, chaired by Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, a total of ₦1.678 trillion was distributed as the February 2025 Federation Account Revenue to the Federal, State, and Local Governments.
