The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oyebamiji gave the congratulatory message on Saturday while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters in Osogbo, as the state commemorated its 35th anniversary.
He said he was congratulating Adeleke “in the spirit of democracy” and urged the governor, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to take all necessary steps within his constitutional powers to protect the lives and property of residents.
Oyebamiji also called for an immediate end to what he described as killings, harassment and intimidation of APC members and supporters in the aftermath of the election.
He specifically called for investigations into the deaths of former Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Remi Abass; APC Chairman in Atakumosa Local Government Area, Gbenga Ogbara; Dele Ayegbo, nephew of Wole Oke and a member of his campaign team; and more than 35 other victims of political violence.
The former APC candidate urged the Nigeria Police Force to thoroughly investigate the reported killings and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims, assuring them of his continued support.
Oyebamiji said the APC had, following INEC’s declaration of the election result, consulted with party elders and other critical stakeholders on the way forward.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to pursuing justice and electoral fairness through lawful and constitutional means.
He also urged APC members and supporters not to lose faith in democracy, calling on them to close ranks and begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, including mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Oyebamiji commended President Tinubu, former Osun Governor Bisi Akande and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their support and contributions to the APC in the state.
