In a latest development, the Chief Press Secretary to Siminalayi Fubara, Nelson Chukwudi, has urged the members of the public to jettison pieces of information circulating online detailing that the governor has relapsed into hermitage following his suspension.
Chukwudi stated during a briefing on Friday night, the 21st of March 2025, unreservedly that Fubara, of a surety, vacated the state’s government house with his family and security personnel, and in spite of this, has been in good health and safe hands.
“Forget about what you are reading on social media. The governor is safe and doing well.โ
Chukwudi’s speech came in the wake of the Rivers State Elders asking about the governor’s whereabouts and requesting him to come and declare his state of wellness on national television. They said:
“The whereabouts of Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, is unknown to the Rivers people. He has not spoken to anybody. We have not seen him. We are demanding that Fubara should come on TV if he is alive because we can observe that Nyesom Wike can go to any length and that Mr. President is backing him. They can do anything to this young man. Rivers people demand to know his whereabouts and what is happening to him.”
We recall that earlier, on the 18th of March, President Bola Tinubu had suspended the Rivers State governor and introduced a government similar to an interim government to be headed by Retired Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas as Sole Administrator.
Governor Fubara was reported to have vacated the state’s House of Assembly to afford the appointed administrator the luxury of time to carry out his duties.
