The Kogi State Police Division has commenced an investigation into the attack on the family house of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in her hometown.
Senator Natasha’s family house in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, was said to have been attacked by unknown gunmen on Tuesday, April 15th, who vandalized the windows to gain access with the hope of meeting the senator at home.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, aide to Senator Natasha, Yakubu Ovanja, had reported the attack to the Divisional Police Officer in Okehi Division.
In a statement released on Friday, April 18th, Aya disclosed that the attackers numbered up to three, bearing machetes, and had attacked the senator’s family house, damaging some front window glasses.
“Immediately the information was received by the DPO; he mobilized his men for on-the-spot assessment where he met a young man named Michael Akpoti in the house who narrated how the hoodlums used cutlasses to damage the said building while trying to gain access into the house before he raised alarm which made the hoodlums flee.”
โIn view of the above, the Commissioner of Police has directed the deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Criminal Investigation Department to commence immediate and discrete investigation into the alleged attack to ascertain its cause with the view to apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.โ
The Kogi Police Command has, however, given its word that the issue will be critically investigated to ensure that these hoodlums are brought to justice.
