Former Big Brother Naija star and professional boxer, Mike Edwards, has challenged streamer and content creator Carter Efe to a boxing bout, urging him to accept what he described as a “real challenge.”
Edwards issued the challenge on Monday following Carter Efe’s victory over singer Speed Darlington in the recent “Chaos in the Ring” boxing contest.
The boxer, popularly known as Machine Mike, claimed he had previously challenged Carter Efe after the streamer’s first bout but said the proposed fight had yet to materialise.
According to Edwards, Carter Efe had since participated in three fights while continuing to avoid a showdown with him.
“@carterefe, stop the cap. Now you’re saying you want to fight ‘real men’ and ‘real fighters’… I’ve been right here the whole time,” Edwards wrote.
He recalled that before Carter Efe’s first fight, he had asked the streamer to handle his initial opponent before they faced each other in what he described as a “super fight.”
Edwards added that while Carter Efe had now fought three times, he had only had one bout, questioning why their proposed matchup had not happened.
“Quit fighting these bums and accept a real challenge,” he said.
The former BBNaija star, however, acknowledged the commercial aspect of celebrity boxing, saying he understood that Carter Efe was making money from the bouts but urged him to give fans a bigger contest.
“Give the people value for their money. You don’t fight enough now,” he added.
Edwards also disclosed that he had spoken with Dr Eazy Adamu and Balmoral Promotions about staging the proposed fight and called for the bout to be formally arranged.
He said he would first compete in Dubai on November 7 before turning his attention to a potential showdown with Carter Efe.
“Let’s give Nigeria the fight they actually want. Machine Mike vs Carter Efe,” he declared.
Edwards ended his challenge with a direct message to the streamer, saying he was ready whenever Carter Efe was prepared to accept the fight.
“You say you want a real fighter? I’m not hard to find. Quit ducking me,” he wrote.
Carter Efe recently defeated Speed Darlington in the “Chaos in the Ring” contest and subsequently expressed interest in facing international opponents and established boxers, including former world champion Floyd Mayweather.
