The Government of Türkiye has expressed condolences to Nigeria following the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft crash in Ondo State that claimed several lives.
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed the country’s sympathy in a statement shared on its official X account on Tuesday.
The ministry said it was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the military aircraft crash, which occurred on Monday, October 5, in Ondo State.
Türkiye extended its condolences to the families of those who died in the accident and to the people of Nigeria, describing the incident as tragic.
The NAF aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, was reportedly operating a flight from Benin City in Edo State to Lagos when it disappeared from radar at about 9:13 a.m. on Monday.
The aircraft later crashed near the Igbokoda Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said no survivors had been found following the crash.
In response to the tragedy, President Bola Tinubu declared three days of national mourning in honour of the victims.
The crash has continued to generate condolences and reactions from within and outside Nigeria as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
