There was a brief moment of drama at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State on Saturday when the microphone was taken away from the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, while he was addressing President Bola Tinubu and other party leaders.
A video circulating on social media showed Umahi speaking at the rally before he was interrupted as the microphone was taken from him, cutting short his remarks.
The minister had been inviting Tinubu to officially commission a road project when the incident occurred.
“With all humility, our dear President, our dear President and father, I request that you come over here to officially commission this very important route,” Umahi said before he was interrupted.
The circumstances surrounding the removal of the microphone were not immediately clear.
The incident has attracted attention on social media, with reactions focusing on the manner in which the minister’s speech was interrupted.
The rally was attended by Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, his wife and other APC chieftains as the ruling party intensified its political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
