Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the National Central Bureau of INTERPOL, Lagos Annex, have rescued two Colombian women allegedly lured to Nigeria and held against their will by suspected members of a human trafficking syndicate.
The victims, identified as Maria Camila Rodas Ortiz and Yuliet Fernanda Rios Mesa, were rescued following intelligence received from INTERPOL-NCB, Bogotá, on August 26, 2026.
According to the police, the women were allegedly deceived into travelling to Nigeria, where their travel documents were confiscated and they were held captive by suspected Chinese nationals.
Following the intelligence, police operatives launched a covert tracking operation that led them to the victims’ hideout in Lagos, where they were safely rescued.
The suspected traffickers reportedly fled the location after sighting the approaching police team. Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the suspects.
The victims are currently in safe custody and receiving necessary support, while arrangements are being made for their safe return to Colombia.
