The Nigerian Air Force has announced plans to commence its 2026 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking enlistment as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.
According to a notice attributed to the NAF, online registration for the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 is expected to begin on September 3 and close on October 14, 2026.
The recruitment exercise is free of charge, with prospective applicants advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements and application guidelines before submitting their applications.
The NAF recruitment portal states that enlistment into the Airmen/Airwomen cadre is conducted through its official recruitment platform and is free.
Under the requirements contained in the notice, tradesmen/women applicants are expected to be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027, while non-tradesmen/women applicants are expected to be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date.
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and meet the stipulated physical, medical and psychological fitness requirements. The minimum height requirement is 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.
For tradesmen/women, applicants with National Diploma or National Certificate in Education qualifications are required to have obtained their certificates from accredited institutions, alongside the required credits in relevant secondary school examinations.
Applicants seeking trades that require a Trade Test certificate must possess the relevant certificate and meet the prescribed Senior Secondary School Certificate requirements. Drivers are also required to have a valid driving licence.
For non-tradesmen/women, applicants are required to possess the prescribed secondary school qualifications, including credits in Mathematics and English.
Successful applicants will also be required to complete the relevant acknowledgement, parental consent and Local Government Area attestation forms.
The NAF said the zonal general aptitude test for shortlisted applicants would be held on a date to be communicated through the recruitment portal, while only successful candidates would proceed to the interview stage.
