The final hours of gospel singer ToluwaniSings were marked by a desperate search for medical help after he suddenly slumped and was reportedly taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, without receiving the attention his loved ones hoped would save his life.
The singer, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after reportedly performing at a worship event the previous day.
His personal assistant, Babadunni Olayemi, disclosed on Thursday that efforts to secure medical attention for the singer proved unsuccessful, as some hospitals reportedly cited an ongoing doctors’ strike while others declined to admit him.
According to the aide, the singer had appeared healthy before his sudden collapse, leaving those around him scrambling to get him medical assistance.
“There was nothing wrong with him. He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped. They tried to resuscitate him. They went helter-skelter. They took him to some hospitals, but they were giving excuses,” he said.
Olayemi explained that he was not present when the incident occurred but rushed to the scene after receiving a phone call.
He said some hospitals claimed doctors were unavailable because of the strike, while others allegedly refused to admit the singer.
“We took him to up to seven to eight hospitals in Ibadan, but God said his time was up,” he added.
The aide also disclosed that the singer’s body had been deposited at a mortuary, while the family was expected to decide on funeral arrangements after consultations.
He said relatives were still coming to terms with the loss and had yet to conclude the necessary arrangements.
ToluwaniSings was known for gospel songs such as A Very Big God and Onibuore, which earned him recognition among worshippers.
His death was earlier confirmed by his family.
