President Bola Tinubu has reinstated Mohammed Danjuma, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Finance (Special Duties) at the Federal Ministry of Finance, two months after his suspension over an investigation involving a purported government agency.
Danjuma’s reinstatement took effect from October 21, 2026, following presidential approval conveyed in a letter dated October 22 by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel.
He was suspended on August 21, alongside two other permanent secretaries, following a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) concerning the activities of the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.
The organisation was allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze, with suspected involvement of public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The suspension followed concerns raised over the purported agency, which was alleged to have operated without the necessary authorisation.
According to the reinstatement letter, Tinubu approved the lifting of Danjuma’s suspension after what the government described as due diligence and directed the Head of the Civil Service to recall him to his official duties.
The letter stated that Danjuma was expected to resume work immediately and discharge his responsibilities in line with the Public Service Rules, applicable regulations and ethical standards governing the Federal Civil Service.
However, the reinstatement announcement did not provide further details about the outcome of the investigation or establish whether the allegations surrounding the purported agency had been fully resolved.
It also did not indicate whether the suspensions of the two other permanent secretaries, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah, had been lifted.
