Tears flooded the Ovbiogoe community shortly after neighbours, who perceived a foul stench in the neighbourhood, alerted the Edo State police, who broke into the apartment to investigate the cause of the air pollution.
Neighbours and residents were overwhelmed with shock when they discovered the decomposing bodies of Osasu, the wife of Wealth Nnamdi, and their 3-year-old daughter.
Apparently, Wealth Nnamdi, who is on the run, had allegedly murdered his pregnant fiancรฉe, Osasu Isaac, and their 3-year-old daughter named Miracle.
Neighbours mentioned that prior to their deaths, there was an altercation between Nnamdi and Osasu, which didn’t raise much cause for concern, as they had gotten used to their occasional quarrels and fallouts. None, however, had the slightest idea that the seemingly simple altercation would escalate into a bloodbath.
A neighbour who reported under the preference of anonymity mentioned that:
“It is heartbreaking because she was excited about the wedding. She was already pregnant for him, and they had been living together. Their traditional wedding was fixed for March 29, while the church ceremony was scheduled for April 6.
“On Sunday, they had a serious argument, but we didnโt think much of it because they usually fought. When the argument stopped, we assumed they had settled. But after two days, a foul smell started coming from their room. That was when we called the police.”
Shedding light on the incident that occurred on Idiangbona Street in Ovbiogoe community, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu revealed that police officers forced open the door after neighbours reported a foul smell.
“The Edo State Police Command has since commenced an investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman popularly known as โMama Hallelujahโ and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle,” Yamu stated.
“On March 18, 2025, at about 8:30 pm, the Ekiadolor Division received a report from a concerned neighbour who complained of a strong odour coming from the deceasedโs apartment. Upon arrival, officers discovered the room locked from the outside. When they forced it open, they found the decomposing bodies of the woman and her daughter. The woman had a deep cut on her head, suspected to have been inflicted with a machete, while the child was found lifeless on the bed.”
“The suspect has gone into hiding, and the command is making all efforts to track him down and bring him to justice,” he added.
Following the development, the Edo Police has launched a manhunt for the fugitive suspect, Wealth Nnamdi, who was alleged to have fled the community after committing the heinous crime.
