Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has responded to a resurfaced video involving his daughter, Jane Ufot, in which she made allegations of his involvement in ritual sacrifice using his late wife.
Governor Eno dismissed the claims, stating that his family remains united despite the controversy, and attributed the circulating video to political detractors attempting to tarnish his image.
In the video, Jane Ufot who serves as the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Safety, and Environment accused her father of using her late mother, Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, for a ritual sacrifice. She further alleged threats to her life and that of her young daughter.
Taking to Instagram, Mrs. Ufot condemned her fatherโs actions, vowing not to suffer the same fate as her mother.
Speaking to journalists in Uyo, the state capital, Governor Eno reaffirmed his focus on governance, saying he refuses to be distracted by such tactics. He emphasized that the video is not recent and was being weaponized by political opponents.
โMy family is intact and you can see all of them here. The event you are talking about took place immediately my wife died last year, so why is it surfacing now on the eve of our second anniversary when we are celebrating the milestone we have achieved?
That teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact, thatโs Jane herself there. We are a good family.
โI canโt be detracted, I remain focused. I will continue to serve Akwa Ibom people.
โMy family is intact. Even in politics, family should be off limits.โ
The People’s Insight recalls that Jane Ufotโs video had previously stirred public concern, as she accused her father, the governor, of sacrificing his wife in a disturbing clip.
In the clip, she stated:
โDaddy, I will send this particular post to only you. Please, let us talk before this thing destroy. Iโm not a sacrifice, mummy was, but Iโm not. If I give you few minutes and it doesnโt work, Iโve posted this to everywhereโ.
