Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo is gracefully bowing out of the Labour Party.
The actor, who was the party’s campaign spokesman during the 2023 general election, stated that the party leadership is being sabotaged by internal crises fueled by a leadership tussle.
“My entrance into politics is for good governance, and I will continue to work for it to ensure that Nigeria becomes a great country of incorruptible men. This aim can no longer be realized within the Labour Party as presently constituted. Since the party is non-existent as it is currently structured, I am constrained to resign my membership of the party to all Nigerians of goodwill who supported us when we needed them most and to pledge my continued loyalty to the Nigerian people in all I will decide to do in my political future.”
The legendary Nollywood actor stated that his resignation will take effect from the 25th of February, 2025, the day that marks the second anniversary of the presidential election of 2023.
Kenneth Okonkwo made it known to Nigerians that he is not bowing out of politics per se, but he is hoping for a platform where he can have the free will to join forces with other well-meaning and like-minded Nigerians in crafting a great future that is characterized by good governance and quality leadership.
We wish the actor-cum-politician good luck in his endeavours.
