The founder of the defunct Diamond Bank, Pascal Dozie, reportedly died at 85.
Pascal Dozie’s passing was confirmed and later communicated to the general public by his son, Uzoma Dozie.
In a post, Uzoma Dozie, the son of the deceased, described him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who possessed a staunch belief in Catholic doctrine.
His words:
โWith deep sorrow, but with gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the passing of our beloved father.โ
โHis life was marked by serviceโto God, his family, and his country.โ
Late Mr. Pascal Dozie died on the 8th of April, 2025. Before his death, he played a remarkable role in the development of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, following his appointment as the pioneer chairman of MTN Nigeria back in the year 2000.
He was best known for being the founder of Diamond Bank, one of Nigeria’s foremost banks at that time, where he would later retire and hand over the leadership of the bank to his son Uzoma Dozie, who served as the bank’s CEO before the bank eventually merged with Access Bank.
Pascal Dozie was born on the 9th of April 1939 in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State. His academic journey unfolded from Our Ladyโs School in Emekuku where he later proceeded to the London School of Economics for a degree in economics.
Pascal would later obtain a masterโs degree in administrative science from City University, London.
The late technocrat who died a a day to his birthday was greatly celebrated by folks for his uncanny humility, dedication, long-term vision, honesty and integrity.
Pascal Dozie received so many award recognitions including a national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
