Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has fired back at Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, accusing him of supporting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar solely for financial gain.
In a scathing statement, Olayinka labeled Momodu a “fairweather friend,” suggesting his loyalty lies not in principles but in personal benefits.
“We’re hearing all this noise from him because Atiku is paying his bills. The moment Atiku stops, Oga Dele Momodu will find a new benefactor,” Olayinka declared.
He also dismissed Momodu’s claim that Wike was responsible for Peter Obi’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), calling the allegation unfounded and ignorant.
“Only someone like Dele Momodu, who is driven more by his stomach than facts, would accuse Wike of forcing Peter Obi out of the PDP,” he said.
Turning his fire on Atiku, Olayinka accused the former Vice President of consistently undermining the PDP since 2003.
“Atiku has been the weapon fashioned against the PDP. He derailed the party’s chances in Lagos in 2003 and has continued to sabotage its unity ever since,” he alleged.
Olayinka also questioned the sincerity of Atiku’s recent call for the PDP to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South-East, pointing out that Atiku had already picked up the party’s Expression of Interest form before the zoning committee concluded its report.
“It’s hypocritical to preach zoning after you’ve already secured the form. Atiku’s actions speak louder than his words,” he stated.
