Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has addressed those struggling to embrace his transformation, declaring that his former self is no longer alive.
In a message shared on the official Instagram page for his forthcoming album, “No Sign Of Weakness”, Burna Boy placed the blame on Nigerians for the metaphorical death of his previous identity.
He explained that there is an ongoing internal struggle between his old and new selves.
His words:
“The ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy died. His own people killed him. Then ‘Big 7’ was born to protect what was left of ‘Burna Boy.’
“Burna Boy and Big 7 fight each other a lot because while Big 7 is only protecting the final and only existing piece of Burna Boy’s broken heart, the ‘African Giant’ still haunts Burna Boy.”
