Pro-Biafra group, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has threatened to oppose the re-election bid of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, if he fails to address the recurring killings of residents in the state, particularly in the Ikpakpara, Agu-Amed autonomous community in Eha Amufu Isi-Uzu local government area.
The group condemned the recent attacks on farmers and natives of Agamede and Mgbuji autonomous communities in Eha Amufu, Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, by suspected herders.

“We demand justice and accountability, and we must protect the vulnerable communities and ensure the safety of our people,” Madu said.
The group noted that the herders’ attacks highlight the ongoing tensions and insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in regions described as farming communities.
MASSOB advised Governor Mbah that the lives of members of the communities should be paramount if he is desirous of a second term.
The threat comes against the backdrop of increased attacks on farming communities in Enugu State.
Between 2021 and June 16, at least 163 people had been killed in Eha-Amufu border communities with Benue State by marauding Fulani herdsmen.
In the past two weeks, at least 16 people had been killed in renewed attacks in Mgbuji and Agu-Amed autonomous communities in Eha-Amufu Isi-Uzu local government area of Enugu State.
MASSOB’s ultimatum to Governor Mbah underscores the growing concerns about the security situation in Enugu State and the need for effective measures to protect lives and property.
The group’s threat to oppose Mbah’s re-election bid adds a new dimension to the state’s politics, as the governor seeks to retain his office in the 2027 general elections.
The Enugu State government has been urged to take concrete steps to address the security challenges facing the state, particularly in the rural areas where farming communities are vulnerable to attacks.
The government must prioritise the safety and security of its citizens and take effective measures to prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.
