Less than three months after the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), appointed local government administrators, one of them has stepped down.
Goodluck Ihemnacho, the administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, formally resigned from his position, citing a desire to return to the private sector.
In a letter dated June 20, 2025, and addressed to the state’s sole administrator, Ihemnacho wrote:
“I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the administrator, Ahoada East LGA.
โMy sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada East for finding me worthy to serve as Ahaoda East LGA from 11th day of April 2025 to 20th day of July 2025.โ
Earlier in April, Vice Admiral Ibas had approved the appointment of administrators for all 23 Local Government Areas, despite a Federal High Court reportedly issuing a restraining order less than 24 hours prior.
The appointments, along with the reconstitution of previously suspended boards of various agencies, commissions, and parastatals, were announced through a Special Government Announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika.
