You’ll be sanctioned if you post negative things on social media— NYSC DG Warns Corps Members The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned its members against using social media in ways that could negatively affect the Scheme or Nigeria. Corps members were urged instead to create content that positively reflects both the NYSC and the country. Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director General of NYSC, issued the warning on Friday while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku. According to a statement shared via the NYSC official X handle, the DG emphasized that any negative social media posts by Corps members would attract sanctions. He also advised Corps members to avoid unauthorized travels, strictly adhere to camp instructions, and respect the cultural values of their host communities. “Follow simple instructions, be obedient, go for your biometrics and your Community Development Service. Learn and respect the cultural values of your host communities and do not misrepresent us at your place of primary assignment,” Nafiu said. Earlier, NYSC Delta State Coordinator Mr. John Kwaghe presented a camp situation report, revealing that 2,101 Corps members — 944 male and 1,157 female — had been deployed to the state. He added that camp activities were progressing smoothly, with full participation from both officials and Corps members, who demonstrated a high level of discipline. This development follows a similar call by Brigadier General Nafiu to the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps Members in Rivers State, urging them to uphold the core values of the Scheme throughout their service year and beyond, emphasizing patriotism, integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment. Special operation will rescue abducted pupils, teachers – Gov MakindeOyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Tuesday declared that it will take a special operation to rescue students and teachers abducted in the state. The governor spoke while addressing protesters, who marched to the Government House demanding immediate rescue of the children. Recall that terrorists invaded schools in Yawota and Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State last month and kidnapped over 40 pupils and teachers. Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, on Tuesday led a mass protest to the Oyo State Government House. Addressing the protesters, Makinde assured that the victims will be rescued, stating that efforts are ongoing. “The operation to rescue them is a special type of operation. As the Governor of Oyo State, I give you assurance that we will bring back those children,” he said.
