Coordinator of ‘Fake’ Made-in-Nigeria Agency Shares Appointment Letter From SGF Office
Nwabueze Buchi George, the embattled national coordinator of the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, has released an appointment letter which he claims was issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
George shared the document on his LinkedIn page on Saturday, a day after President Bola Tinubu ordered his arrest over allegations that he operated a fake government agency within the SGF complex.
The President also directed the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries following findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu said the discovery was made during a wider investigation into the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and other procedural lapses within government.
The appointment letter, dated October 3, 2025, and referenced OSGF/MIN/59310/11/205, was signed by Nadungu Gagare, designated as permanent secretary in the Political and Economic Affairs Office.
Titled “Appointment as National Coordinator and Executive Director Made in Nigeria Project Office,” the letter stated that George’s appointment had been approved as National Coordinator/Executive Director of the Made-in-Nigeria Project Office under the OSGF.
According to the document, the appointment was for a five-year tenure beginning from July 2025 and was renewable.
George was assigned responsibilities including supervising and developing programmes, projects and policies, as well as overseeing regional and state coordinators.
He was also expected to organise exhibitions, trade expos, economic summits and other promotional activities aimed at advancing indigenous products and services.
The letter further indicated that the project would operate from a temporary office at Room B53, Ground Floor, within the OSGF complex.
It stated that the appointment was subject to the pleasure of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and aligned with the objectives of the Made-in-Nigeria initiative under the Renewed Hope agenda.
Meanwhile, TheCable reported that several state governments had received letters from George requesting the nomination of state coordinators for the Made-in-Nigeria Project Office.
The development comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged unauthorised government structures operating within or around the OSGF.
