Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he advised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu and publicly thank him after winning the governorship election.
Wike made the disclosure on Wednesday during a media parley with selected journalists.
According to the FCT minister, he personally advised Adeleke to contact Tinubu and present the certificate to him after the election.
“I told Adeleke to call Mr President and go and present his certificate of return to him. I also told him to make a press statement thanking Mr President after the Osun election,” Wike said.
Adeleke won the election with 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Following his victory, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return to President Tinubu and also met with Wike.
Wike’s revelation comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with politicians across the country continuing to form new alliances and strengthen existing relationships.
The disclosure has also drawn attention to the political relationship between Adeleke and the Federal Government, particularly following the outcome of the Osun governorship election.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has remained a prominent supporter of President Tinubu and has repeatedly spoken about the need for political cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
