Billionaire businessman and Group Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms following a private dinner between the two men in Paris, France.
Otedola disclosed the meeting in a post on Tuesday, September 29, saying he had dinner with the President in Paris the previous evening.
He expressed support for Tinubu’s economic policy direction, describing the reforms as “bold and forward-thinking” and saying they had placed Nigeria’s economy on a path of sustainable growth.
According to Otedola, the results of the administration’s policies were becoming increasingly evident across several areas of the economy.
He cited the inclusion of Nigerian companies in the FTSE Russell Frontier 50 Index, gains in the Nigerian Exchange, increased foreign direct investment and greater stability in the foreign exchange market.
He also pointed to Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which he put at about $55 billion, as another indication of economic progress.
Otedola concluded his message by expressing his personal support for the President, saying, “I remain proud of you, Mr. President.”
The meeting took place as Tinubu continues his extended working vacation in Europe. The President left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week annual leave and later extended his stay by a few days.
The Presidency has said Tinubu would return to Nigeria during the week after spending several weeks abroad.
