Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has emerged winner of the Africa Top Model title at the ongoing Miss World competition in Vietnam, securing an automatic place in the Top 40 quarterfinals.
Karibi-George defeated representatives from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa to clinch the continental title during the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII, themed “Soul of Heritage.”
Her victory means Nigeria has officially secured one of Africa’s 10 spots in the Top 40 of the 2026 Miss World competition.
The Miss World Organisation announced the results, congratulating the four continental Top Model winners from Africa, the Americas and Caribbean, Europe, and Asia and Oceania.
Nigeria’s Karibi-George emerged for Africa, while representatives of the Dominican Republic, France and Vietnam won for the Americas and Caribbean, Europe, and Asia and Oceania respectively.
The organisation said the four winners had earned places in the Top 40 after standing out during the Top Model competition. One of them will later be crowned the overall Top Model winner and receive a direct qualification to the Top 20.
The remaining places in the Top 40 will be determined through other Miss World challenge categories, including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head and Multimedia.
Karibi-George’s latest achievement follows her impressive run in the Head-to-Head Challenge, where she reached the African finalists. South Africa’s Romanda Hombir eventually won the continental round and secured an automatic Top 40 spot.
The 26-year-old from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 after emerging victorious from a field of 20 finalists on June 6 at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
She represented Bayelsa State at the national competition and succeeded Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Nigeria at the previous Miss World pageant and reached the Top 20.
A trained communications professional and associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Karibi-George is the founder of Beyond Labels, an initiative focused on inclusion, dignity and empowerment for children with special needs.
She previously won Miss Africa International 2024 in Accra, Ghana, before securing the Miss World Nigeria crown in 2026.
