Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said having a biological son is not a priority for him, noting that a son could potentially fail to live up to the achievements of his three daughters.
Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has three biological daughters from two previous marriages and an adopted son, Abdulrahman Fasasi.
His daughters are actively involved in the family’s business empire. His eldest daughter, Mariya, has taken on leadership responsibilities within the group, while his second daughter, Halima, serves as a senior executive and board member. His third daughter, Fatima, also holds key executive positions in subsidiaries of Dangote Group.
Speaking during an interview with Arise Television, Dangote said he believes people should accept what God gives them rather than insist on having a particular child.
He said, “That is not my priority, let me say it bluntly because today as we speak, God controls everything.
“But for me, sometimes you can pray for God to give you a son but that son might be the one that would take down the name of the family.
“So sometimes when God doesn’t give you something, don’t push. I don’t think a son would have done better than these three ladies that I have.”
Dangote has been married twice, with both marriages ending in divorce. His first marriage, to Zainab, produced two daughters, while his second marriage to Mariya Muhammad Rufai produced his third daughter, Fatima.
