A Nigerian national, Raphael Oludemilade-Adebowale, has been arrested by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement during an immigration enforcement operation.
The US Department of Homeland Security identified Adebowale among foreign nationals arrested during the operation and said he had previously been convicted of larceny and money laundering in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
DHS did not provide details of the sentences imposed in the cases or explain the specific circumstances surrounding his immigration status and arrest.
Adebowale was listed alongside other foreign nationals with criminal convictions who were arrested during the enforcement operation.
The US authorities said the arrests were part of ongoing immigration enforcement activities targeting undocumented migrants with criminal records.
DHS identified Adebowale as a Nigerian national convicted of larceny and money laundering in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
The department also named a Pakistani national, Jawwad Ali Ahmed, who it said had been convicted of lewd or lascivious acts involving a child under 14 in Sacramento, California.
Another detainee, Alexandre Esdras Pandolfi-Soares of Brazil, was identified as having been convicted of forcible sexual abuse in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The arrests were announced amid intensified immigration enforcement in the United States.
The DHS announcement did not provide further details about Adebowale’s immigration proceedings or indicate whether he has any pending criminal court case connected to the convictions.
