The first self-service fuelling service in Abuja has been introduced at Sunbeth Energies’ station in the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The service allows motorists to take control of the fuelling process by selecting the quantity or value of fuel they want, making payment, receiving pump authorisation and dispensing the fuel themselves.
Speaking on the Abuja deployment, Chief Marketing Officer of Sunbeth Energies, Abiola Ameen, said the system gives customers greater control and visibility throughout the fuelling process.
According to him, customers can monitor the transaction from payment and pump authorisation to fuel dispensing and confirmation.
“At the Wuse Self-Service Station, customers can select the required quantity or value of fuel, complete payment, receive authorisation to use the pump and dispense the fuel themselves,” he said.
He added that the transaction is automatically confirmed through the system once fuelling is completed.
Ameen said trained customer experience personnel would remain available at the station to assist motorists, particularly those using the self-service system for the first time.
The Abuja deployment follows Sunbeth Energies’ introduction of the self-service model at its Ogba outlet in Lagos, where the company said it recorded 100 per cent transaction success with zero service downtime over the previous month.
He said the Lagos experience provided the company with useful insights into customer behaviour, station operations and the level of support required to operate the system effectively.
“Taking self-service fuelling to Abuja is an important development for our retail operations. Our experience at Ogba showed us how customers interact with the system, where they need support and what is required to keep the process running smoothly at the station,” Ameen said.
He added that lessons from the Lagos deployment had been applied to the Wuse station, with emphasis on reliability, customer service and building customer confidence in self-service fuelling.
Managing Director of Sunbeth Energies, Lateef Abioye, said the performance of the Lagos operation had strengthened the company’s focus on technology, convenience and customer experience in downstream fuel retail.
The self-service process at the Wuse station involves five key stages: selecting the required quantity of fuel, making payment, receiving pump authorisation, dispensing the fuel and confirming the completed transaction.
The Abuja deployment marks an expansion of Sunbeth Energies’ self-service fuelling service beyond Lagos, giving motorists in the Federal Capital Territory another option for purchasing fuel.
