Edo State House of Assembly member Natasha Osawaru has reignited speculation about her marriage to Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, after introducing herself using her maiden surname during legislative proceedings.
In a video circulating on social media, the lawmaker identified herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing colleagues during a plenary session of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Her nameplate also displayed the Osawaru surname, with no mention of Idibia, the surname of her husband.
The development has attracted widespread attention, with social media users questioning whether it signals a change in the couple’s relationship.
Natasha’s latest public appearance comes amid ongoing speculation about their marriage, which has faced scrutiny following reports of disagreements between the couple.
The rumours gained further momentum after Natasha was reportedly absent from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos, where members of his family and several entertainment personalities were present.
The couple’s relationship also attracted attention in August following a reported confrontation at an Abuja nightclub. Natasha subsequently acknowledged that they were experiencing a marital crisis but said they were fine and dismissed claims that they had separated.
Her decision to use only her maiden surname during the latest assembly session has now added another dimension to the public discussion.
However, neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly confirmed that their marriage has ended. Her use of the Osawaru surname during official legislative duties does not, in itself, establish that the couple have separated or divorced.
Meanwhile, the development has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with some users questioning the state of the marriage while others cautioned against drawing conclusions from the name she used.
