As investigations into the masterminds of the CBEX platform crash deepen, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a foreigner identified as Elie Bitar wanted for his alleged involvement in the fraud carried out through the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).
Elie Bitar was reportedly declared wanted on Wednesday, April 30, with a photograph of his likeness pasted to help with a timely track down.
In a statement duly signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-corruption body reiterated to the aggrieved investors and members of the public that the organization is committed to their quest to hunt down fraudsters defrauding people of their hard-earned money online.
The EFCC detailed in its statement that Elie Bitar who is aged 41, is wanted for a suspected fraudulent scheme launched through the CBEX platform, which has reportedly defrauded multiple investors across the country.
“The public is hereby notified that ELIE BITAR, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).”
It was also gathered that one of the wanted Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) promoters, Adefowora Abiodun Olaonipekun, willingly surrendered himself to the EFCC.
Accompanied by his legal counsels, Adefowora, turned himself in at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, April 28, 2025.
