Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has died after reportedly slumping during a reconciliation meeting.
Solomon reportedly collapsed on Friday during the meeting held at Iyara Town Hall, the administrative headquarters of Ijumu LGA.
According to reports, he was given first aid before being rushed to a medical facility, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The meeting, convened by Funsho Olumoko, a former chairman of Ijumu LGA, was aimed at reconciling warring factions and stakeholders within the local government.
It followed an earlier meeting during which Solomon and some other officials reportedly walked out after a disagreement.
Reacting to the death, Zacchaeus Dare Michael, chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, described Solomon’s death as a painful loss.
Michael expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, the APC leadership and members in Ijumu, as well as the people of the local government.
He said Solomon’s death was a profound loss to his immediate family, the APC family in Ijumu and the entire people of the local government.
The circumstances surrounding his sudden death were not immediately disclosed.
