The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide are scheduled to resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The ministry assured students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders that necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a safe and smooth commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session.
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He said relevant security agencies had been informed of the resumption arrangements and were maintaining heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.
According to the minister, the coordinated efforts were aimed at protecting students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country.
Alausa urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and make the necessary preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday as scheduled.
He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to facilitate an orderly and secure resumption.
The minister called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful, supportive and secure school environment.
He stressed that ensuring the safety and wellbeing of learners remained a shared responsibility.
The Federal Ministry of Education said it would continue to monitor developments and take all necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the safe resumption of academic activities in Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.
It said the commitment was in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which recognises education and human capital development as essential to Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development.
The ministry therefore assured students, parents, guardians, teachers and the general public that arrangements were in place for a safe, peaceful and successful resumption across Federal Unity Colleges.
