Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected of serving as an ammunition courier after allegedly finding her with 300 rounds of ammunition in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The arrest was made on Wednesday, September 9, during separate intelligence-led operations targeting terrorist hideouts, supply routes and logistics networks across Kubau, Igabi and Birnin Gwari local government areas.
According to the military, troops of Sector 1 acting on intelligence concerning the movement of ammunition intercepted the woman in Igabi and allegedly found the 300 rounds concealed inside a bag.
Preliminary investigation reportedly showed that she had travelled from Zamfara State to Lafia, Nasarawa State, where she allegedly received the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorist elements operating around Birnin Gwari in Kaduna.
The suspect and the recovered ammunition have been taken into military custody as investigations continue to establish her network and intended recipients.
In a separate operation at Dabar Dabo, a suspected terrorist hideout in Kubau LGA, troops arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two other members of his syndicate.
The three suspects were also taken into military custody for further investigation.
Later the same day, troops working with a community vigilante group apprehended another suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari LGA.
Four communication devices suspected to have been used in connection with terrorist activities were recovered during interrogation and a search of the suspect.
The military said the operations were part of efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and restrict the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics across the Joint Operations Area.
