Nigerian singer Teni has thrown a playful boxing challenge at fellow Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage, with the latter responding with three words that have sparked reactions online: “Pick a date.”
Teni made the challenge in a video shared on social media on Friday, October 2, while discussing the earnings of Nigerian entertainers and the expensive lifestyles of some artistes.
Turning her attention to Tiwa, Teni jokingly proposed a boxing showdown and claimed she would defeat the award-winning singer in the ring.
The “Fargin” hitmaker also floated a potential purse of ₦1.5 billion, asking whether such an amount would be enough to afford a luxury car such as a Bugatti.
Teni further joked that she would not be distracted by Tiwa’s son, Jamil, during the fight, insisting that she would remain focused on defeating her opponent before later singing Tiwa’s “My Darling” for her.
Rather than ignoring the challenge, Tiwa responded in the comment section with a brief message: “Pick a date.”
Her response quickly generated reactions from fans, with many interpreting it as a willingness to entertain the proposed celebrity bout.
However, there is currently no confirmed fight date, venue, promoter, contract or official purse for a Teni-Tiwa Savage boxing match. The exchange therefore remains a playful social media challenge for now.
The development comes amid growing interest in celebrity boxing in Nigeria. On October 1, 2026, BBNaija winner Phyna defeated actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing bout in Lagos organised under the Chaos in the Ring series.
Other entertainers, including Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe, have also featured in recent celebrity boxing contests.
